A formal ceremony was held at Silivri Port as part of the July 1 Maritime and Cabotage Day. The ceremony began at 10:30 AM in front of the Atatürk Monument.

Following this, Silivri District Governor Tolga Toğan, Silivri Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu, and protocol members set sail to lay a wreath in memory of those who lost their lives at sea.

Members of the press following the ceremony from the sea boarded a designated boat. After sailing for a while, the boat carrying the journalists allegedly tipped over due to excessive speed.

The incident was overcome without the boat sinking and without anyone being injured. The panic among the journalists and their warnings to the captain to slow down were captured on camera.
