Karşıyaka Municipality takes action against stray horses
Karşıyaka Municipality has conducted an operation to capture horses that were found to be roaming the streets unattended for some time. The seized horses were transported to the Pako Temporary Animal Care Center, and legal proceedings were initiated against their owners. Mayor Yıldız Ünsal stated, "We will continue to follow up on this matter to prevent the health and safety risks created for both the horses and the public."

Following complaints regarding horses roaming unattended in the Latife Hanım and Zübeyde Hanım neighborhoods of Karşıyaka, municipal teams took action. Teams from the Municipal Directorate of Veterinary Affairs and the Karşıyaka District Directorate of Agriculture first reached out to and warned citizens who were releasing their horses into the streets to roam and feed on trash. However, as the problem persisted, an operation was carried out, and a total of 5 horses were safely captured. The seized horses were transported to the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Pako Temporary Animal Care Center after a report was filed in coordination with the Karşıyaka District Directorate of Agriculture. Additionally, legal proceedings have been initiated.
