Knife-wielding attacker terror at nursing home: Dead and wounded reported

Two people were killed and one was injured after a resident at a nursing home belonging to the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality attacked other residents with a knife.

65-year-old I.S., a resident of the Halil Akyüz Nursing Home in the Yeşilbayır neighborhood of the Döşemealtı district, attacked some nursing home residents with whom he had previously had disputes with a knife last night.

Selçuk Goncegül (73), Ali Serdar Batır (66), and A.Ö. (74) were stabbed in the incident.

Upon notification, medical teams arriving at the nursing home determined that Goncegül and Batır had lost their lives.

The injured A.Ö. was taken to the hospital.

I.S., who fled after the incident, was taken into custody while walking on Atatürk Street in the district early in the morning.

The bodies were taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue following an examination by police teams.

"THE NURSING HOME MANAGER KILLED THEM"

It was learned that I.S., who had been staying at the nursing home for about 5 years, had been scheduled for discharge due to complaints against him, and that he had been packing his belongings before the incident to leave the nursing home today.

The suspect, I.S., was referred to the courthouse after his statement procedures at the Public Security Branch Directorate's Murder Bureau.

When asked by reporters, "Why did you kill them?" during this time, I.S. replied, "The nursing home manager killed them. The one who made me this way killed them. I didn't kill them, go ask him."

The suspect was arrested by the judgeship.

Meanwhile, footage of I.S. at the nursing home during the incident has emerged.

In the security camera recordings, it is seen that I.S., who enters the corridor with knives in both hands, sees a security guard coming towards him and chases after him, and the guard, who falls to the ground, gets up and runs away. The footage also shows the suspect descending the nursing home stairs and fleeing.
