Lifeless body of one person recovered from landslide in Ordu

The lifeless body of one of the two people trapped under a landslide at a stone quarry in Ordu has been recovered.

According to the information obtained, a large mass slid from the hillside around 4:30 PM following a blast carried out as part of routine operations at a stone quarry owned by Demirtan Construction, located in Sefaköy, approximately 7 kilometers from the Fatsa district center, at around 12:00 PM.

A truck and a piece of heavy machinery, along with their drivers, were trapped under the landslide. Upon notification, AFAD, fire department, gendarmerie, and medical teams were dispatched to the region. 

As a result of the search and rescue efforts initiated by teams in the region with 20 pieces of heavy machinery, the lifeless body of heavy machinery operator Burak Kilci (25) was reached approximately 5 hours later. It was learned that Kilci had been married in June.

Ordu Governor Muammer Erol stated that the lifeless body of one person was reached following the search and rescue operations. While Ahmet Şahin, who remains trapped under the landslide, has not yet been reached, the search operations that concluded today will resume tomorrow morning.
