Mayor who made headlines with 'Manifest' remarks involved in accident

A Togg-brand SUV belonging to the municipality, carrying Çorum Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın, was involved in a multi-vehicle traffic accident in the city. It was reported that Aşgın and those with him were uninjured, while 4 vehicles sustained material damage.

The accident occurred around 11:30 AM on Ata Street. According to allegations, the SUV carrying Aşgın, which was on its way to a business opening, collided with a municipal car traveling in the same direction that was carrying members of the press.

Due to the impact, the car struck parked vehicles, resulting in a chain-reaction accident. Upon notification, police teams were dispatched to the area. The teams conducted an investigation at the scene of the accident.

It was stated that there were no injuries in the accident and that Mayor Aşgın and those accompanying him are in good health.

AKP Çorum Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın had previously made headlines with his remarks regarding a request for the music group Manifest to perform a concert in the city, stating, "As long as we are here, no Manifest girl can enter Çorum."
