Mayor's son arrested after hitting municipal employee while fleeing from police
In Iğdır, the son of Iğdır Mayor Mehmet Nuri Güneş, who failed to comply with a police "stop" order and hit and seriously injured a municipal employee while fleeing, has been arrested by the court after it was determined he had a blood alcohol level of 2.09 promille.

According to the information obtained, the intoxicated Şiyar Güneş, who did not comply with the "stop" order from police teams, fled during a traffic check on İrfan Street.
During the pursuit, the driver's vehicle collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
In the accident, the motorcycle rider and Iğdır Municipality employee Yusuf Öztürk (55) were injured. It was learned that Öztürk, who was transferred to Erzurum after initial intervention at Iğdır State Hospital, remains in critical condition.
In the investigation conducted by police teams, it was determined that Şiyar Güneş had a blood alcohol level of 2.09 promille and is the son of DEM Party Iğdır Mayor Mehmet Nuri Güneş.
While the driver was fined 640 thousand liras, his driver's license was confiscated for the third time in 5 years. Şiyar Güneş, who was referred to the courthouse, was arrested by the Criminal Court of Peace.
