Mehmet Şimşek announced: That province is becoming a Metropolitan Municipality!

The Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Boulevard, which was inaugurated in Batman, will accelerate the city's development toward becoming a metropolitan municipality. Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated that Batman could reach metropolitan status within the next 7 to 10 years.

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek attended the opening ceremony of the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Boulevard held in Batman.

In his speech at the ceremony, he stated that the new boulevard would ease city traffic and allow heavy-tonnage vehicles to connect to the Diyarbakır road without entering the city center. Şimşek said, "Thanks to this project, air pollution will decrease, traffic flow will improve, and fuel savings will be achieved. It is a very valuable project for Batman."

'THE CITY IS DEVELOPING VERY RAPIDLY'

Emphasizing that Batman is developing rapidly with industrial investments, Şimşek said, "Currently, many organized industrial zones are under construction and in the planning stage. The city center is developing very rapidly. At this rate, Batman could become a metropolitan municipality within 7 to 10 years. Being a metropolitan municipality means growing and developing."

The opening ceremony was attended by Governor and Deputy Mayor Ekrem Canalp, Deputy Ministers Abdullah Erdem Cantimür and Zekeriya Kaya, AKP Batman Deputy Ferhat Nasıroğlu, and numerous local administrators and guests. Following the ceremony, Minister Şimşek took a short drive on the new boulevard in a Togg T10X model vehicle. Later in the program, he attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the 4th Stage of the Batman Creek Rehabilitation works on the Silvan highway.
