The incident occurred in the vicinity of orange orchards in the Bahçelievler neighborhood of the Yüreğir district. According to allegations, 32-year-old Salih Tel went to the edge of a drainage canal on the evening of Saturday, June 14, to drink alcohol with his friends M.C. and C.Ç. However, he did not return home throughout the night. His worried wife, Kader Tel, went to the police in the morning to file a missing person report after failing to hear from her husband. As part of the investigation launched into the incident, M.C. and C.Ç. were questioned and stated that Tel had gone toward the canal to wash his face while they were drinking, but never returned.
Following the report, teams launched a large-scale search in the area and found Tel's motorcycle and slippers on the edge of the drainage canal. Divers from the Provincial Police Department's Underwater Group Command were deployed, and as a result of their search, they recovered the individual's lifeless body near the Akdeniz neighborhood.
After the examination, the body was transported to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for an autopsy. Regarding the incident, Tel's two friends, M.C. and C.Ç., who were with him that night, were taken into custody again. Both individuals were released following their statements at the police station.
It was reported that the investigation is ongoing.
