Missing teacher found dead in Lake Iznik

Sad news has arrived regarding 43-year-old mathematics teacher İlhan Algınkaplan, who worked in Yalova. The lifeless body of Algınkaplan, who had not been heard from for approximately 12 hours, was found about 50 meters off the shore in Lake Iznik, located in the Orhangazi district of Bursa.

Algınkaplan's body, which was recovered from the water by the marine police, was taken to the Orhangazi State Hospital morgue by ambulance following procedures at the scene.

Search efforts had been initiated with the participation of the Orhangazi District Gendarmerie Command, AFAD, and police underwater search and rescue teams after Algınkaplan could not be reached. The teams' work in the area concluded when the teacher's lifeless body was found during the night hours.

It was learned that Algınkaplan worked as a mathematics teacher at Yalova Abdülhamithan Secondary School. It was reported that the teacher, who had left school after the first day of classes, called his mother around 11:00 AM to say he was going out for a trip.

The car with license plate 77 DH 455, which belonged to Algınkaplan's father, was found by the lake. After his mobile phone and clothing were also discovered on the lake shore, teams conducted a search in the area.

It was reported that his mother, Hatice Algınkaplan, and father, Sadettin Algınkaplan, who were waiting by the lake while their son was being recovered from the water, were overcome with grief upon receiving the tragic news.
