According to the information obtained, Halit Güzel lost his life after being shot during a land dispute in Batman on January 17, 2002, while his son, Mehmet Güzel, was seriously injured.
It was determined that the murder suspect who fled after the incident was İhsan E., and due to security concerns, the murder case file was transferred to the Çankırı High Criminal Court in 2004.
WANTED AS A FUGITIVE
The Wanted Persons Bureau of the Çankırı Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch, which began efforts to capture the suspect İhsan E. who had disappeared after the murder, focused on the possibility that he might be in contact with his relatives.
During the investigation conducted by the teams, it was determined that the suspect's family lived in Istanbul. Based on the assessment that İhsan E. might be using the identity of his cousin F.K., who lives in France and looks very much like him, the suspect's address was identified as a result of technical examinations.
In a coordinated operation carried out in light of the information shared with the Istanbul Police Department, the suspect was captured at the house where he was living with his wife in Istanbul. It was also determined that the murder suspect used a fake press card to avoid being caught. Although the captured individual showed the teams his cousin's identity card, he confessed to being İhsan E. upon detailed questioning by the teams. The individual, who had been living as a fugitive for 23 years, was taken into custody. After completing his procedures at the police station, İhsan E. was arrested by the judicial authorities to whom he was referred.
