According to the information obtained, Dr. Şebnem Deniz Ersoy (57), a Pediatric Health and Diseases Specialist working at Kuşadası District State Hospital, allegedly adopted a child for money after a mother who had just given birth claimed she could not take care of the baby. Dr. Ersoy took the child home, hired a nanny, and began caring for the child at her residence.
The incident came to light on July 27 when the doctor brought the baby back to the hospital after dropping the child from her arms at home. Şebnem Deniz Ersoy allegedly dropped the baby. The doctor sent the baby to the hospital where she worked for treatment through the nanny, as if the child belonged to someone else. The incident was reported to the prosecutor's office after a nurse at the hospital noticed bruises on the child's face and head. Police teams investigating the incident detained Dr. Ersoy and the nanny. It was learned that the child's treatment is continuing at Aydın Adnan Menderes Hospital, Dr. Ersoy has been suspended, and the mother, Özlem K., has been detained in Amasya.
Following her procedures at the police station, the nanny was released after giving her statement. Dr. Şebnem Deniz Ersoy, who was referred to the court, was released by the court under judicial control. It was learned that the mother, Özlem K., was sentenced to house arrest.
Dr. Şebnem Deniz Ersoy, who was released under judicial control, made statements in front of the courthouse along with her lawyer, Yunus Usta.
"THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO HUMAN TRAFFICKING"
In his statement, Dr. Şebnem Deniz Ersoy's lawyer, Yunus Usta, said, "The investigation began with human trafficking. The public also perceived the events differently. Our police and the Kuşadası Chief Public Prosecutor's Office saw in their final decisions that there was no human trafficking involved and that the doctor had carried out this act in good faith with the sole intention of adopting a child. As a result, she was released without any arrest. There is absolutely no human trafficking here, no illegal act. There was only an investigation that turned into human trafficking due to a child accidentally falling and going to the hospital for treatment, but with different interpretations. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office conducted the necessary investigation. They concluded that no such thing happened, and she is currently free."
"I WANTED TO GIVE THE CHILD A FUTURE AND GOOD OPPORTUNITIES"
Dr. Şebnem Deniz Ersoy stated that the incident was reflected differently, saying, "I have been a pediatrician for 32 years. I have also been working in Kuşadası for 5 years. The people of Kuşadası know me very well. They know the love I show for children. After losing my son, I wanted to go through an adoption process. We made such an attempt last year, but it did not conclude. When I had the opportunity to touch a child's life, I wanted to give that child a future and provide good opportunities. Unfortunately, an unfortunate accident occurred. I intervened and got the child to the hospital at the right time. The fact that this incident was evaluated as a forensic case is due to the registration system. Every case is recorded this way when it arrives. They have reflected this incident in a different way. I am also very sad. I am very surprised. But I have infinite trust in the police and the judiciary. They conducted a very good study. They acted very meticulously without granting us any privileges. The decision made was what it should have been anyway. I wanted the public to be informed correctly."
It was learned that Dr. Şebnem Deniz Ersoy did not want to speak about questions regarding whether she paid the child's mother to adopt the baby.
