Niğde Governor Akmeşe: 1 of our 6 citizens caught in the flood has lost their life

Niğde Governor Nedim Akmeşe conducted inspections in the town of Gümüşler, where the flood disaster occurred.

In his statement to members of the press, Governor Akmeşe said, "Due to the hail and heavy rainfall effective in our province, floods and water inundations have occurred in our town of Gümüşler.

Immediately following the reports received, AFAD, the Provincial Special Administration, UMKE, health, gendarmerie, and municipal teams were dispatched to the region, and intervention was carried out with 39 vehicles, 10 construction machines, and 216 personnel. Evacuation and damage assessment efforts are continuing without interruption.

One of our 6 citizens who were caught in the flood during the rainfall has lost their life despite all interventions at the hospital. One citizen is still undergoing treatment, and our other citizens are being kept under observation as a precaution.

We wish God's mercy upon our citizen who lost their life, and extend our condolences to their family and loved ones. I convey my get-well wishes to all our citizens affected by the flood.

It is observed that there are flash floods caused by sudden rainfall across our entire country and in our city. It is important that our citizens stay away from stream beds and areas at risk of flooding and comply with the warnings," he said.
