One person had lost their life: 4 people arrested in coffeehouse attack

A 30-year-old man standing in front of a coffeehouse in Istanbul's Şişli district was targeted in an armed attack from a moving SUV. While the moment of the attack was captured on camera, the young man, who was seriously injured, lost his life at the hospital where he was taken. It was alleged that the young man had approximately 30 records for various crimes and was killed because he did not disclose the location of the actual target to the attackers. The Murder Bureau teams detained 4 suspects in connection with the incident.

The incident occurred on April 1 at around 21:00 in the Kuştepe neighborhood of Şişli. Rıdvan Özyer (30), who came to a coffeehouse on the street in the evening, began spending time there. A short while later, as Özyer stepped out to the door and stood on the sidewalk, shots were fired from a moving SUV. The young man, who was showered with bullets, was seriously injured after being hit in various parts of his body. Rıdvan Özyer, who was taken to the hospital, lost his life.

ALLEGATION OF MISTAKEN TARGET

On the other hand, it was alleged that the attackers had someone else in their sights, that they called Rıdvan Özyer on the phone to ask where the target person was, but that he became the target of the bullets because he did not know and therefore could not say. It emerged that Rıdvan Özyer had approximately 30 records for various crimes at the police station.

4 PEOPLE CAPTURED

Following the incident, teams from the Public Security Branch Directorate's Murder Bureau launched an investigation and detained suspects Furkan A. (19) and Maruf A. (19) in Bağcılar. During the search of the captured suspects' homes, 2 AK-47 rifles, 2 unlicensed 9 mm pistols, 1 automatic 9 mm pistol, and a large number of cartridges for these weapons were found. Additionally, 2 bulletproof vests, 3 AK-47 magazines, 90 7.62 mm cartridges, 150 9 mm cartridges, 2 motorcycle helmets, 2 ski masks, and 2 pairs of gloves were seized during the search of the residence.

As the work of the Murder Bureau teams continued, the other suspects identified as being involved in the incident, Mahmut T. (29) and Furkan D. (21), were also detained. During the investigation into the incident, security camera footage of the moment of the attack was also obtained. The suspects, who stated in their statements at the police station that they had a feud due to a debt issue between them, were referred to the courthouse. The 4 suspects were arrested and sent to prison.
