Osmancık Eğriyar road opened to traffic after 47 years

The Eğriyar Road, located in the Osmancık district of Çorum and known as the Çorum road, has been constructed and opened for use by the municipality.

Stating that a concrete step regarding the road, which has remained a hot topic for the people of Osmancık, has finally been taken after 47 years, Bilal Çevrim noted that citizens traveling from Osmancık to Çorum can now connect to the Çorum Road without having to enter the D-100 highway. He expressed that the route is both shorter and safer in terms of traffic, adding: “The Eğriyar road, which was the only connection to the Çorum road that became idle in the district with the construction of the D-100 highway passing through the district in 1977, has become a superb nostalgic road between the Kızılırmak riverbank and the rice fields. We thank the Mayor and his team for their efforts. Hopefully, we will also receive the good news that an initiative will be taken regarding a bridge.”

Association President Çevrim had first submitted the request for the opening of the Eğriyar road, which provides the connection between Osmancık and Çorum, to the Osmancık Mayors of the time and the AK Party Çorum Deputies of the time in 2014 and 2017.

Emphasizing that a bridge should also be built over the Dereboğazı Creek, Çevrim stated that he had received promises from the deputies of the time, Cahit Bağcı and Ahmet Sami Ceylan, that the road requested in both periods was noted and would be conveyed to the relevant institutions. However, the mayor of the time had blocked the project by saying, “The road to be built to the Adatepe recreation area is more important for us.”
