Aydın Battal, a shepherd who made headlines after the local elections in the village of Aşağı Homurlu in the Akpınar district of Kırşehir due to the number of votes he received and his poem full of reproach, received an offer to appear in 3 episodes of a TV series, where he played the role of a village headman candidate, just as he did in his poems.
After his life was partially documented in a documentary following the series shoot, Battal has become one of the most watched and followed figures on social media platforms with his video titled 'Why am I poor'.
Aydın Battal, who works as a shepherd in the village of Aşağı Homurlu, said regarding the video in which he claims to carry three burdens and asks for his poverty to be investigated, "My videos are circulating. I am 50 percent poor in terms of money and 50 percent poor in terms of mind, but I am enjoying life," he said.
Adding that the wealthy cannot enjoy life as much as he does, Battal said, "I am enjoying life. A rich person cannot live and enjoy life like I do. And I don't think I could enjoy life if I lived like them. I like it this way," he said.

HE HAD MADE THE AGENDA WITH THE POEM HE WROTE AFTER LOSING THE ELECTION
Stating that he competed against two people to become the village headman, Aydın Battal had previously said, "There were three candidates and 300 votes in the village of Aşağı Homurlu. I got 29 votes and lost. When I started the elections, I had three burdens on me. Being poor, being a shepherd, and writing and sharing poems on social media. I couldn't control my heart and I embarked on an adventure."
HERE IS THAT POEM
"They sat in my lap and pushed me away. My relatives didn't want me at first. They lit a cigarette in my face, my friends and acquaintances didn't want me at first. I don't know arrows or bows, I don't fail in showing respect. What's wrong with me, I don't see if I'm bad. My sister-in-law, my brother-in-law didn't want me at first. They said step aside, who do you have in this race, whose tea or water do you have to serve. If they had their way, they would even kick me out of the village, my relatives and friends didn't want me at first. They said he's a shepherd, he can't be a headman. He can't go to the government office. They called me a fool, said he can't find his left from his right. My sister-in-law, my brother-in-law didn't want me at first. As if my rivals are rocket scientists, they have the same villager consciousness as me"
