Police officer cleaning his gun shoots 8-year-old child
In Aksaray, a police officer attempting to clean his service weapon accidentally discharged the firearm, shooting a child. The child, who was seriously injured, is fighting for their life at the hospital where they were taken.

The incident occurred in front of the Police Lodgings in the Büyük Bölcek neighborhood. According to the information obtained, police officer G.Ö., who serves as a security guard at the police lodgings, wanted to clean his service weapon while on duty in the security booth in the garden.
As a result of the police officer's negligence while cleaning, the gun suddenly discharged, and the bullet struck an 8-year-old child named E.C.D. who was playing on the street.
Citizens in the vicinity, trying to understand what happened after hearing the gunshot, noticed the child had fallen to the ground and immediately reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the report, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
The 112 Emergency Assistance teams, who arrived at the scene in a short time, provided the first intervention to the seriously injured child at the scene before transporting them by ambulance to the Aksaray Training and Research Hospital Emergency Department.
It was learned that the child, who was taken under treatment there, remains in critical condition, while the police officer was taken into custody by police teams.
The Aksaray Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident, which is also being examined by the Provincial Security Directorate.
