Press statements and marches banned in Adıyaman

In a written statement issued by the Adıyaman Governor's Office, it was stated: "Given that the court hearing for the process known as the 'October 6-8 events' that took place in 2014, during which attacks were carried out against the life and property security of our citizens and law enforcement officers, will be held at the Ankara 22nd High Criminal Court on May 16, 2024, it is assessed that terrorist organization sympathizers, marginal and radical groups who desire to repeat the grave events that previously occurred in our country may attempt to carry out illegal actions/events throughout our province to -allegedly- protest these events, and that public order and security could be endangered and social conflict could be incited due to these actions/events. 

Considering that the aforementioned actions and events could also be carried out in our province, which could disrupt public order and security and make it difficult to ensure the safety of life and property, the inviolability of the person, security regarding disposal, and public welfare, all kinds of actions such as gatherings, marches, press statements, hunger strikes, sit-ins, rallies, opening stands, setting up tents, distributing leaflets/brochures, and hanging posters/banners intended to be held in open areas regarding the aforementioned events and the case, as well as the entry of individuals and vehicles understood to have come to participate in these actions into our provincial borders from other provinces, and for our outer districts, their departure and/or entry into our city center to participate in these actions, have been banned within our provincial and district administrative borders until May 19, 2024, in accordance with Articles 17 and 19 of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911 and Articles 11/A, B, and C of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442."
