Prison sentence requested for mother and 2 daughters who shot their sleeping father

The investigation has been completed into a mother and her 16-year-old daughter, who were arrested after shooting their sleeping father in Güngören and then staging the scene as a suicide with the help of another daughter. The prepared indictment requests aggravated life imprisonment for the mother and her two daughters.

The incident occurred on December 9, 2024, in an apartment on the 2nd floor of a 5-story building in the Sanayi neighborhood of Güngören. Eylem Dilsiz called the police, claiming her husband had committed suicide, and police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The teams determined that Murat Dilsiz, who was found lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head, had passed away, and a weapon was found next to him during the investigation. The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the death of Murat Dilsiz.

The investigation was completed approximately 14 months later. In the prepared indictment, Murat Dilsiz is listed as the 'victim,' while his wife Eylem Dilsiz (44) and elder daughter Rojin Dilsiz (23) are listed as 'suspects.' Meanwhile, it was learned that the investigation file for 16-year-old E.D. was sent to the Juvenile Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office due to her age.

They set the alarm for a later time than usual so their siblings would not wake up early and see their father

The indictment states that the victim's daughter, E.D., told her cousin B.D. in Diyarbakır, where they had gone for their hometown, that a fight had taken place in the house between 00:00 and 02:00 on the day of the incident, that her father then went to sleep, and that her mother and sister gave her her father's gun and said, 'go shoot him.' She recounted that she put on gloves, climbed onto the sofa, and shot him without bringing the gun too close to his head. She also stated that they first left the gloves in the bathroom ventilation, then she went to take a shower and washed her clothes, and that her mother took a cloth, cleaned the gun, placed it in her father's hand, and threw the cloth out the window. She also noted that they took her father's phone to prevent him from calling for help. Furthermore, E.D. told her cousin B.D. that after the report of a suicide was made, law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, where Murat Dilsiz was lying motionless in the room with a loaded gun and an empty shell casing visible. She claimed her mother told her to 'go shoot again,' but she did not do so because she was afraid. The indictment also includes that they set the alarm for 07:50 to ensure their other siblings would not wake up early and see their father, and that they notified their relatives afterward.

The statement given by the defendant Eylem Dilsiz to the prosecutor's office was also included in the indictment. In her statement, Dilsiz said that on the morning of the incident, her daughter E.D. woke her up and told her she had shot her father, stating, "When I went to look, I saw my husband lying with a gun in his hand, shot in the head. I then went to his bed; no one heard a gunshot during the night. After my children A.B.D. and A.D. left for school, I called the police. I told the police my husband had committed suicide. I have no involvement in the murder. I did not give the gun to my daughter E.D., nor did I direct her to commit murder. I do not agree with the matters my daughter E.D. told B.D."

In her statement, E.D. said, "My father had been torturing us for a long time. He was constantly insulting, threatening, and beating us. On the day of the incident, he and my mother fought again. Thinking I could no longer bear what was happening, I took the gun belonging to my father from under the sofa while wearing gloves and shot my father. I wore gloves so my fingerprints would not be found. Later, I threw the gloves out of the bathroom window into the apartment shaft. After I shot my father, my mother and siblings went to their rooms and slept. No one woke up while I was shooting my father. In the morning, after my siblings went to school, when my mother saw my father in his room like that, I told her I had shot him. My mother called the police on her phone; I did not tell the police I had shot my father. No one incited me to shoot my father. He was constantly beating me and other family members at home; I killed the victim because he was constantly subjecting us to violence. I killed my father alone; no one directed or incited me. On the day of the incident, after I killed my father, I went to my mother and immediately told her I had killed him. My mother didn't believe me at first; I told her to go and look. When she went to look, she came to me crying and asked why I had done such a thing. I told her I couldn't bear it anymore. When the police arrived in the morning, I stayed silent because they suspected it was a suicide."

Aggravated life imprisonment requested

The prepared indictment requests that E.D., mother Eylem Dilsiz, and Rojin Dilsiz be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for 'premeditated murder against a lineal relative' and 5 to 8 years in prison for 'possession of an unlicensed firearm.' Meanwhile, it was learned that the case file for E.D. heard in the juvenile high criminal court has been merged with the file at the Bakırköy High Criminal Court. The prepared indictment has been sent to the Bakırköy High Criminal Court for evaluation. The defendants will appear before the judge in the coming days.
