Repair quoted at 60,000 TL in Konya completed for 2,500 TL
In Konya, a person who went to an auto repair shop due to a noise coming from their vehicle was faced with a repair bill that could reach 60,000 liras, based on the claim that the engine's cylinder head needed to be opened and the valves were faulty. The person, who later took their vehicle to an expert, learned that the source of the noise was only a 2,500-lira fuel pressure pipe.

S.A., who lives in Konya, went to a mechanic in the city center to find out the source of a noise coming from their 2021 model Volkswagen vehicle.
During the inspection there, the mechanic stated that there was an engine failure and that it needed to be repaired for a fee of around 60,000 liras.
Following this, S.A. took their vehicle and went to an expert. In the report prepared after the inspection there, it was revealed that the vehicle's fuel pressure pipe was broken, and that this was a 2,500-lira fault. Seeing the prepared report, the vehicle owner went to a different mechanic and had their vehicle repaired.
"These break chronically"
Stating that it is important to correctly diagnose chronic faults seen in some vehicles, expert technician Şenol Uysal said, "A Volkswagen T-Roc vehicle came in. They had taken it to the industrial site. At the industrial site, they had said, 'There is noise in the valves. The cylinder head will be opened, and the valves and valve guides will be checked.'
There are fuel pressure pipes in these vehicles. These can break chronically. When the vehicle came to us, we knew that the fuel pressure pipe was a chronic issue. We had encountered the same noise before. The fuel pressure pipe is around 2,500 liras. Because it is plastic, it cracks and breaks at its folds.
We checked that area with our hands. We saw that when we opened it slightly, the noise increased, and when we closed it again and pressed our hand on it, the noise stopped. We sent the friend back and directed them to a mechanic we know.
They went there. They replaced the fuel pressure pipe for 2,500 liras. The noise stopped, then they came here. 'God bless you, brother, thank you. You saved me from a lot of expenses,' they said," he stated.
"You need to show it to people who know the job"
Şenol Uysal said, "Operations like opening the cylinder head, checking valves and valve guides would have cost around 50-60,000 liras. And if there was bad intent, they could have come up with a higher price. They could have increased the price by saying it's this or that. When the vehicle came to us, we said, 'This is the fault, you don't need to go anywhere else.' We showed the noise on the spot here. We said, 'Go, change this pipe.' They changed the pipe. They paid a fee of around 2,500 liras. In other words, you need to show it to people who know the job. Don't just get a price from one place," he said.
