Road blocked in Düzce over natural gas
Villagers in Düzce, demanding that the natural gas line passing through their village also be extended to their homes, staged a protest by blocking the road.

While work was underway to install a natural gas line to a business located in the village of Bostanlık in Düzce, villagers demanded that the natural gas line also be extended to their own homes.
However, after not receiving a positive response to their demands, the villagers blocked the Gölyaka-Düzce connecting road to traffic. Teams from the Düzce Provincial Gendarmerie Command managed to get the road reopened to traffic after approximately 3 hours of negotiations with the villagers, while the residents of Bostanlık village secured an appointment to meet with Düzce Governor Selçuk Aslan.
WE WANT OUR RIGHTS
One of the villagers, Sinan Çetin, stated, "The natural gas passes through our village. We cannot benefit from this line. We want our rights. Why is the natural gas going to the field not being given to our village? People don't live in the field, but people live here. Who is going to benefit from this natural gas? Are we not citizens of the Republic of Turkey? We are seeking our rights. We will continue our protest until the authorities intervene in this matter."
