Scammer offers young woman a job as a 'lawyer' after failing to defraud her
A scammer who called a university student in Burdur in an attempt to defraud her offered to "make her a lawyer too" when he realized he could not pull off the con. The young woman was left at a loss when she discovered the scammer already had all of her personal information.

Elif Manış (22), a university student in Burdur, recently received a message claiming that a court case file had been opened in her name. Acting on the message, Manış logged into her E-Devlet account to check whether any case had been filed against her.
After realizing the message had been sent by scammers, Manış decided to call the number listed in the message to find out more. The scammers initially tried to convince her, but when they understood they could not, instead of hanging up they began to chat with her.
The scammers offered Manış the chance to "become a lawyer too," and later told her they wanted to meet her in person. Elif Manış recorded these moments and shared the experience on her social media account.
"We knew they were trying to scam us, so we decided to scam them back"
Manış, who said she had received similar messages before, explained: "The message said I had a settlement case. It said I needed to contact that number to avoid criminal proceedings. I had received one before, but since I couldn't record it, I wanted to record it the second time around. I called the number — at first a woman answered. She spoke very well. She was convincing enough; her speech sounded like a real lawyer's. At that moment she tried to direct us, but she couldn't, so we hung up. We called again because we knew they were scammers. This time a man answered. He tried to direct us and gave us a website address. He said we would log in to the Ministry of Treasury and Finance through it and that we needed to query the file using E-Devlet. After that, we decided to string him along, because we knew they were trying to scam us. We said, let's scam them back. Then he seemed to catch on and asked where we lived. But he already had all my personal information. They recited my Turkish ID number from start to finish. They listed the address of the house I live in, and the names of my mother, father, and sibling. It was a genuinely disturbing situation. He was explaining it all brazenly, talking without a care. He himself said they found this information through a panel. I have no idea what kind of panel that is. I wanted to record all of this. And then I wanted to share it because I want people to be careful," she said.
"He said, 'If you want, I can make you a lawyer too'"
Describing the recorded phone call, Manış noted that the person on the other end was very serious at first, adding: "We even tried to play along with the scammers. At one point something like a laugh came through — as if he was mocking us. When we later told him we knew he was a scammer, he started making us different offers. He said, 'If you want, I can make you a lawyer too; let's meet up, you seem like a very smart person.' He also started steering the conversation toward phone perversion. We were completely stunned along with our friends when that happened," she said.
