School principal shot by foreign national student passes away
School principal İbrahim Oktugan, who was shot by a foreign national student in the Eyüpsultan district of Istanbul, has passed away.

In Istanbul's Eyüpsultan district, a foreign national student fired 5 shots at school principal İbrahim Oktugan, whom he held responsible for his expulsion from the high school.
The school principal, who was critically injured as a result of the armed attack in his office, was taken to the hospital, while the suspect fled the scene.
It was learned that school principal Oktugan, who was taken to the hospital, could not be saved despite all interventions.
HE HAD BEEN EXPELLED FROM SCHOOL
The incident occurred around 10:00 at the Private Eyüpsultan Final Academy Anatolian High School. Allegedly, Y.K., who is said to be of Iraqi origin, was expelled from the school in December 2023 following issues he had with his teacher and subsequently with school principal İbrahim Oktugan.
Y.K., who was expelled from school due to problems with his teachers, returned to the high school 5 months later and entered school principal İbrahim Oktugan's office. Drawing the weapon he brought with him from his waistband and targeting the school principal, Y.K. fired 5 shots, critically wounding İbrahim Oktugan.
Following the incident, Y.K. fled the scene. Students and teachers who heard the gunshots rushed out of their classrooms in a panic. Teachers who arrived at the office found the school principal on the floor covered in blood and subsequently notified the police teams.
APPREHENDED
Y.K., who returned to the high school 5 months later, critically wounded school principal İbrahim Oktugan by shooting him in his office, subsequently causing his death, and fled after the incident, has been apprehended.
