The incident occurred in the skies over Polatlı during the evening hours. Citizens who saw a bright object suddenly appear in the sky and move rapidly toward the ground recorded the moment with their mobile phones. The footage, which was shared on social media shortly after, caused a significant stir.
Arda Çuhadar, who recorded the moment, stated that a white object was falling rapidly while emitting fire, saying, "I have seen many shooting stars before, but this was a different object. It was quite large and was descending while spewing flames. My dashcam is always recording. I watched it many times and thought it was a meteor. It was shining bright white, then it spewed fire and disappeared."
Local resident Ömer Doğular stated that he initially thought it was a shooting star, adding, "After leaving the hospital, the light behind the blocks cut out completely, and that's when I realized a meteor had fallen. There was a lot of light; once it went behind the blocks, the light suddenly cut out. The search efforts are ongoing. The public's interest also continues. I am ready to do whatever is required of me," he said.
Following reports, law enforcement units were dispatched to the area, and search efforts were initiated with the participation of citizens. The search also included aerial surveillance supported by drones. Authorities are focusing on the possibility that the object could be a meteorite, noting that the final result will be clarified after investigations are completed.
