Sad news has arrived following an 8-day search for 33-year-old Elif Kumal, who went missing while camping on the Kapıdağ Peninsula in the Erdek district of Balıkesir. The young woman's lifeless body was found in the Yukarıyapıcı Pond.
WENT MISSING AFTER AN ARGUMENT AT THE CAMPSITE
Elif Kumal had gone camping on the shores of the Yukarıyapıcı Pond on the Kapıdağ Peninsula on December 27 with her boyfriend, Enis G., and another friend. During the camping trip, Elif Kumal had an argument and left the campsite during the night in her vehicle with license plate 16 ATB 289. The next morning, on December 28 at 12:09 PM, Enis G. called the 112 Emergency Call Center, reporting that he had not heard from Elif Kumal and that she had disappeared after leaving the campsite.
SEARCH OPERATIONS WERE LAUNCHED
Teams were immediately dispatched to the region following the incident. Upon reviewing security camera footage, they found no trace of Kumal's vehicle heading toward either Erdek or Bandırma. Consequently, the gendarmerie launched a large-scale search operation. As a result of intensive scanning and investigations conducted in various areas over 8 days, Elif Kumal's lifeless body was found in the Yukarıyapıcı Pond.
Since the day Elif Kumal went missing, her family and relatives had participated in the search efforts in the region and waited patiently for a result.
