Security guard loses life in smoking dispute

In the Menderes district of İzmir, a scuffle broke out between a passenger smoking on the İZBAN commuter train and a security guard. The 44-year-old security guard, who was injured in the head during the altercation and taken to the hospital, has passed away.

The incident occurred yesterday around 18:00 at the Cumaovası İZBAN Station. According to the information obtained, security guards intervened at the Adnan Menderes Airport station against a passenger named M.D., who was smoking inside the train and preventing it from moving by holding the doors open.

The passenger was removed from the train at the Cumaovası Station but continued his aggressive behavior despite all warnings. Following this, a scuffle broke out between the passenger and the security guards.

During the altercation, Seydihan Alsaç (44), a security guard working for İZBAN, collapsed after receiving blows to his chest and head. Alsaç was taken to the hospital by medical teams called to the scene.

PASSED AWAY IN THE HOSPITAL

It was reported that Alsaç, who was taken under treatment and underwent an angiography at the hospital, suffered a ruptured vessel as a result of the blow to his chest. Despite all interventions, Alsaç could not be saved and passed away.

Following the incident, M.D. was taken into custody and brought to the police station. The body of security guard Seydihan Alsaç was taken to the morgue of the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute.

The investigation launched into the incident is ongoing.
