A significant drop in air temperatures is expected in Istanbul starting Sunday. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality warned citizens, noting that a storm could also be effective alongside the sudden temperature change. Temperatures across the city are expected to drop by approximately 8 degrees, with heavy rainfall also anticipated.

SPRING WEATHER ENDS ON SUNDAY

According to the statement made by the IMM, spring weather will continue to prevail in Istanbul until the weekend. In the city, where sunny and partly cloudy weather will dominate, temperatures are expected to hover between 17 and 20 degrees.

However, according to the latest data from meteorology, a sudden and sharp change in weather conditions is expected starting Sunday. The statement indicated that the northeasterly wind (poyraz) is expected to increase in intensity, blowing at speeds of 40 to 70 kilometers per hour, which will cause a sudden drop in temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees.

TEMPERATURES FALL BELOW SEASONAL NORMS

In the statement, it was noted that air temperatures would fall below seasonal norms, and it was stated that, along with the wind, intermittent heavy rain and short-term thunderstorms are also expected to be effective.

Citizens were warned to be careful and take precautions against the sudden temperature drop and storm-force winds that may occur, especially on Sunday and the following days.
