Statement from Governor Toros on fires in Mersin: We have a new fire
Mersin Governor Atilla Toros provided information regarding the forest fires that have been ongoing in the rural areas of Silifke district since yesterday and the new fire that broke out today in Anamur district. Announcing that they have decided to evacuate a neighborhood in Anamur district, Governor Toros stated that in Silifke district, 984 households in 6 neighborhoods were evacuated, resulting in 1,851 people being relocated, and that 53 houses were damaged by the fire.

While efforts to extinguish the forest fire that broke out yesterday in Silifke district and continues today are ongoing, a forest fire has also broken out in Anamur district. Governor Atilla Toros, who is closely monitoring and coordinating the fire in Silifke district from the region, made a statement to journalists regarding both fires.
"WE HAVE A NEW FOREST FIRE"
Starting his speech by providing information about the newly started forest fire in Anamur, Governor Atilla Toros said, "We have a new forest fire in the Korucuk neighborhood of our Anamur district. We have begun our intervention regarding this. Our ground intervention has started with 18 vehicles. Two of our helicopters are intervening from the air. Another helicopter is on its way. We have decided to evacuate our Ovabaşı neighborhood as a precautionary measure, and our teams are continuing their work."
INTERVENTION WITH 373 VEHICLES
Providing information about the forest fire that started yesterday in Silifke district and is still ongoing, Governor Toros said, "We are currently continuing our aerial intervention with 2 planes and 9 helicopters. In terms of ground intervention, our forestry organization is in the field with a very strong response team. Vehicles from the district and surrounding provinces are intervening in the region. We are responding to the fire with a total of 373 vehicles, including 114 fire trucks and 44 water supply vehicles. We are on the field with 1,016 personnel, 501 of whom are forestry staff," he said.
53 HOUSEHOLDS DAMAGED BY THE FIRE
Continuing his speech, Governor Toros said, "So far, we have evacuated 6 neighborhoods as a precautionary measure. We have evacuated the Balandız, Işıklı, Kırtıl, İmam Uşağı, Akdere, and Çamlıca neighborhoods. I would also like to state that we have evacuated the Çatakoya, Mavikent, Yokuşbaşı, Geçirim, Bağlan, Tapırdamaz, and Tisan locations as a precautionary measure. A total of 984 households were evacuated, and we have relocated 1,851 people. We have prepared 3 hostels for accommodation needs. Our health teams intervened for one of our personnel and 16 citizens who were affected by smoke. Unfortunately, we have damaged households. According to initial assessments, 53 households have been damaged by the fire. Our assessment work is ongoing. I would like to thank all the personnel who worked devotedly without sleeping last night. They fought heroically," he stated.
