Suspect who committed suicide after opening fire on police found to have 18 outstanding warrants

It has been determined that the suspect, who committed suicide after opening fire on police in Büyükçekmece, had 18 outstanding warrants for various crimes.

According to the information received, 5 suspects were apprehended and 3 weapons were seized during the investigation into the incident on November 12, 2023, at a workplace in the 15 Temmuz neighborhood of Bağcılar, where 2 people were shot and one of them lost their life; 3 of the suspects were arrested.

Police teams conducted an operation at an address in Büyükçekmece this evening to apprehend the fugitive suspects.

During the operation, C.G., who had 18 outstanding warrants for crimes including theft, robbery, armed threat, property damage, intentional killing, intentional injury, resisting an officer, and breach of trust, and E.T., who had 33 criminal records and 5 outstanding warrants for crimes including escape of a convict or detainee, theft, and drug trafficking, opened fire on Special Operations teams.

While suspect E.T. was apprehended, C.G. committed suicide after firing his weapon at the shields of the Special Operations police.

Two unlicensed pistols were seized at the scene.

It was learned that the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
