Two people died and one person was injured in an accident involving two trucks on the Anatolian Motorway.
According to the information received, the driver Hüseyin Özdemir (39) parked his truck, license plate 28 EE 540, which was loaded with iron pipes, in the emergency lane after a tire blew out on the Ankara-bound section of the motorway near the Hendek Balıklıihsaniye location.
While the driver and his passenger Sevgi Özdemir (39) had stepped out of the truck to check the situation, another truck, license plate 41 AEC 388, carrying scrap material and driven by Y.K. (26) in the same direction, crashed into the truck in the emergency lane and overturned.
In the accident, Sevgi Özdemir remained trapped under the truck they had exited, while Hüseyin Özdemir was thrown to the edge of the barriers.
Materials located on the trailers of both vehicles were scattered onto the road.
Upon notification, health, fire, gendarmerie, police, and highway teams were dispatched to the scene.
Checks performed by health teams determined that Hüseyin and Sevgi Özdemir had lost their lives at the scene. The bodies were taken to the hospital morgue following investigations.
The other driver, Y.K., who was injured, was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Traffic, which was provided from a single lane for a while due to the accident, returned to normal after the vehicles and the materials scattered on the road were removed.
