The Muğla Governor's Office took action following the possibility that the series of earthquakes occurring on Santorini Island could affect the Aegean coast. AFAD teams from various provinces of Turkey conducted assessment studies in Bodrum.
The early warning system installed in Turgutreis Square will receive real-time data via satellite and activate the sirens in the event of a major earthquake off the coast of Santorini.
The sirens, which will be audible within an area of approximately 2 kilometers, will ensure that citizens are quickly directed to safe zones.
Officials stated that the system is working effectively and emphasized that citizens should heed the warnings. It was learned that measures against tsunami risks will be increased and similar systems will be installed in other critical regions.
