Urla Artichoke Festival opens its doors

The Urla Artichoke Festival is opening its doors. The promotional meeting for the festival, hosted by Urla Mayor Selçuk Balkan, was attended by İzmir Journalists Association President Dilek Gappi, Urla Chamber of Agriculture President Muharrem Uslucan, municipal bureaucrats, and journalists.

CULTURAL TRANSFER

Urla Mayor Selçuk Balkan stated that the festival is very important for cultural transfer, saying, "Throughout history, those who migrated to Urla brought their cultures with them. The reason for the gastronomic richness here today is the cultural diversity here. It is a festival we hold to transfer culture, to pass on the gastronomy culture to future generations, to ensure its promotion, and at the same time, to support the producer."

Stating that the Artichoke Festival is one of the moments where nature and purity are felt, İzmir Journalists Association President Dilek Gappi said, "It is a very important festival. Urla Chamber of Agriculture President Muharrem Uslucan stated that the artichoke is very important in terms of health, especially as it grows in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions, and said, "The festival, while promoting Urla, also contributes to the tradesmen and producers here. We are aware that artichokes have not reached the desired production levels and the desired consumption due to rising prices. We will do our best to promote the artichoke and healthy nutrition for our people."
