Cargo ship hits rocks and runs aground in Kocaeli! Ministry statement on the crew
A cargo ship ran aground in the Pembe Kayalıklar (Pink Rocks) area of the Kandıra district in Kocaeli this morning.

According to the information obtained, the commercial ship named "RAPID" hit the rocks while sailing very close to the shore for reasons yet to be determined. As a result of the impact, the ship ran aground.
It was learned that the ship, which is approximately 81 meters long and 10 meters wide, is flagged in Tanzania and was sailing to the Port of Chornomorsk in Ukraine. Following the incident, coast guard and relevant teams were dispatched to the region.
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure issued a statement regarding the status of the crew on board.
In the statement made by the Ministry, it was stated, "All 7 personnel on board the Tanzania-flagged ship in the Kefken Pembe Kayalıklar area of Kocaeli province have been evacuated by air via a helicopter belonging to the Ministry of Interior Coast Guard Command."
