The incident occurred on September 2 at approximately 17:00 in the Kavakyolu neighborhood. The light commercial vehicle began to roll after its driver forgot to pull the handbrake while heading to visit a cemetery.
Oğuz Kürşat Onay, the principal of Kavakyolu Şehit Salih Ay Primary School, saw the van rolling downhill toward the children playing and jumped over the garden wall. Onay reached the vehicle and brought it to a stop, preventing an accident.
Meanwhile, the incident was captured on security camera. The footage shows Oğuz Kürşat Onay and those with him, who were inspecting the garden, jumping over the garden wall as the vehicle began to move.
