An incident at an elementary school in Afyonkarahisar has sparked reactions. The moment a 9-year-old student was slapped by their teacher in the schoolyard was recorded by citizens on a mobile phone.

In the incident that took place at Hürriyet Elementary School in the city center, it is alleged that the school's vice principal, T.H., noticed a 9-year-old student trying to leave the schoolyard without permission. T.H. went over to the student, had a brief conversation with them and their friends, and then slapped the child.

FIRST SHOUTED, THEN SLAPPED

In the footage, the teacher can also be heard shouting loudly, and local residents who witnessed the incident did not remain indifferent. Citizens who saw the teacher slap the child intervened in the situation. T.H. returned to the school building after the incident. No clear information has been shared regarding the health status of the student who was slapped.

"OUR TEACHER IS FEELING REMORSE"

School Principal Abdullah Baydur, in his statement regarding the incident, noted that the matter had been reported to the police and stated the following:

"Attempts are being made to pull the incident into different dimensions; we have reported the incident to the Provincial Directorate of National Education. Our teacher is also feeling remorse. The parent did not file a complaint against our teacher at the police station."
