Warning for Istanbul from Meteorology and AKOM
The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has shared its weekly weather forecast for June 18 - 24, 2026. The MGM predicts that air temperatures, which have been hovering above seasonal norms, will decrease in the inland and western regions on Thursday and Friday.

The map included in the MGM's post also shows that precipitation is expected across most of the country on Friday, June 19.
AKOM WARNS ISTANBUL
AKOM announced that thunderstorms are expected in Istanbul on Friday, June 19. According to AKOM's data, the city is expected to receive between 2 and 5 kilograms of rainfall on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior has also warned many cities against the rainfall. The Ministry's statement said the following:
"On Thursday, June 18, 2026, local heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Inner Aegean (Afyonkarahisar, Denizli, Kütahya, Uşak provinces, as well as the eastern parts of İzmir, Aydın, and Manisa, and the inland parts of Muğla), the inland parts of the Western Mediterranean (inland parts of Antalya, as well as Isparta and Burdur), the west of Central Anatolia (northern and western parts of Ankara, Eskişehir, Çankırı, and the western parts of Konya), and the inland parts of the Western Black Sea (Bolu, Karabük, Kastamonu, and the inland parts of Sinop).
We strongly remind our citizens to be careful and take precautions against negative conditions such as floods, water inundation, lightning, local hail, strong winds during precipitation, and disruptions in transportation; and to heed the warnings of the competent authorities."
