Woman stabbed by her ex-husband appeals to authorities in video: 'Will my blood be left unavenged?'

Sevda Çakmak, who was stabbed 6 times by her ex-husband while entering her home in Bursa, issued a plea for help from the hospital. In a video she recorded with her phone, Çakmak described the incident, saying, "I am a mother; will my blood be left unavenged?"

The incident occurred on the evening of May 19 on Malazgirt Street in the Turgutalp neighborhood of the İnegöl district. Sevda Çakmak (30), while entering her home, encountered her ex-husband, Sezgin Aslan, who was waiting in front of the apartment building.

During their conversation, Aslan proposed that they get back together.

After being rejected, Aslan allegedly became enraged, stabbed his ex-wife, and fled the scene. Aslan, who was apprehended by police teams, was released by the court under judicial control conditions.

"HOW CAN YOU RELEASE THIS MAN"

Recording a video from the hospital to ask for help, Sevda Çakmak said, "I make my living as a musician. On the night of May 19, while returning from a village where I had performed at a henna night, my ex-husband Sezgin Aslan had laid an ambush and camouflaged himself while I was unloading my instruments from my car.

As I was carrying my speakers into my home, he appeared before me as I was coming down the stairs. He stabbed me in 6 places with a knife he pulled from his pocket. He stabbed not only my leg but also below my heart.

I was hurt, and I received stitches. As a strong mother trying to educate her child, I was attacked for no reason simply because I work, stand on my own two feet, and have no expectations from anyone.

Be our voice; how can you release this man? How can you release a man who threatens my family, my child, and my siblings? I have filed many complaints before.

I have cuts on my hand and leg. We have written everywhere, but why is our voice not being heard? Justice that comes after one is dead is not justice.

Please help me, my children, and my family. I am in a very difficult situation. I am a mother; will my blood be left unavenged?" she said.

Stating that she had been subjected to violence many times before, Çakmak said, "I am a woman who was subjected to violence in front of students and parents in front of a school.

I have reached a point where I can no longer protect my honor, my pride, or my job. I only had one life left, and he tried to tear that apart too," she said.
