In Istanbul's Eyüpsultan district, worker İsmail Ayaz was electrocuted while attempting to address an electrical fault that occurred in a public restroom. The 36-year-old, who was critically injured, could not be saved despite medical interventions at the hospital where he was taken.
The incident took place yesterday around 21:30 on Kalender Street in the Merkez neighborhood. According to allegations, Ayaz was electrocuted due to an electrical cable in the water well while he was attempting to fix an electrical fault in the well at the public restroom.
Upon notification, health and police teams were dispatched to the area. After initial intervention by medical teams, Ayaz was taken to Eyüpsultan State Hospital and placed under treatment, but he lost his life despite all efforts.
It was learned that İsmail Ayaz was a father of 5 children and that his body would be taken to the Viranşehir district of Şanlıurfa for burial. Police teams have launched an investigation into the incident.
Fatih Karacif, a local tradesman, stated that Ayaz was someone they knew, saying, "Unfortunately, an incident occurred that resulted in death. He was a father of 5 children. He was a person we knew. He wanted to fix the fault caused by a malfunction in the water well without turning off the electricity."
