Journalist Yusuf Yavuz, who captured the view of Karaalioğlu Park in Antalya's city center and shared information he received, issued a warning regarding the risk of development.

Beginning his remarks with the words "They don't want this peace in Antalya's city center to be free...", Yavuz stated the following:

"The conservation status of Karaalioğlu Park, which overlooks the Mediterranean and the Beydağları mountains and was built during the early Republican period under the conditions of World War II, has been downgraded. The risk of rent-oriented development in the park has come to the fore.

What is happening?

Despite a commission decision, no action was taken regarding the unauthorized construction carried out in January 2023 in front of the old wedding hall located in the protected area of Karaalioğlu Park. In other words, concerns have now heightened for a high-rent region that could not be adequately protected even when it was a 1st-degree protected site.

This decision is quite remarkable, especially while allegations are on the agenda that a Site Presidency, similar to the examples in Cappadocia and Uludağ, is intended to be established for Kaleiçi, which is located in the area adjacent to the park."
