Access ban on Medya Radar

An access ban has been imposed on the news website Medya Radar following an application by former MHP MP and TYT Türk Board Chair Arzu Erdem and accompanying executives.

REASON FOR THE COMPLAINT: "INSULT AND SLANDER"

Arzu Erdem and TYT Türk executives filed a criminal complaint with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the article published on Medya Radar titled "Can Holding and TYT Türk: The mystery of clean capital in the media."

The complaint included accusations of "insult, slander, publicly disseminating misleading information, violation of privacy, inciting the public to hatred and hostility or insulting, and establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes." Furthermore, it was requested that the news article in question and the website be blocked from access.

PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE REQUESTS ACCESS BAN

Following the complaint, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Cybercrimes Bureau requested an access ban for the content published on Medya Radar.

COURT REACHES A DECISION

The Istanbul 2nd Criminal Judgeship of Peace evaluated the request from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and decided to impose an access ban on the Medya Radar website. The court also ruled for the removal of the content contained in the news article in question on the grounds that it "violated personal rights."

LEGAL BASIS AND RIGHT TO APPEAL

The decision was taken within the scope of Article 8/A of Law No. 5651 and sent to the relevant authorities to be forwarded to the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK). The right to appeal against the court's access ban decision remains open for a period of two weeks.
