Halk TV owner Cafer Mahiroğlu responded on his social media account yesterday to allegations made against him on a television channel close to the government.
"Yesterday, on a television channel, various slanders were leveled against me without even mentioning my name. I am not going to take these operational moves seriously and respond to them, but out of respect for the public, I felt the need to make a statement," said Mahiroğlu, adding the following:
"I have been living in England since 1989. I sold a property I purchased in England in 2004 back in 2021 and transferred all the proceeds to my account in Turkey. With a portion of that money, I purchased the current Halk TV building, which was owned by Kuveyt Türk bank. These transactions, conducted through bank accounts, are entirely transparent and verifiable.
The other allegations made against me in the same broadcast consist of nothing more than nonsensical ravings not even worth responding to. In the culture we were raised in, every question can be asked, but one does not slander, and no one is accused unjustly. It is clear that you have lost some of your values, but everyone should have enough morality left to look in the mirror! A little decency..."
