Condolence message from the TGC for Hikmet Çetinkaya
Journalist Hikmet Çetinkaya passed away in Istanbul on Monday, July 7, 2025. The Turkish Journalists Association (TGC) published a condolence message following Çetinkaya's passing.

Experienced journalist and author Hikmet Çetinkaya, a member of the Turkish Journalists Association (TGC), recipient of the 2014 Burhan Felek Press Service Award, and a permanent press card holder, passed away in Istanbul on Monday, July 7, 2025.
The TGC Board of Directors issued a message of condolence following the passing of the veteran journalist. The statement included the following remarks:
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our member, journalist and author Hikmet Çetinkaya, who served the journalism profession successfully for many years. We extend our condolences to our colleague's family and our press community.”

WHO IS HIKMET ÇETINKAYA?
He was born in Edremit in 1942. He completed his high school education at Manisa Boys' High School. He began his career in 1966 at Cumhuriyet newspaper. He worked as a reporter and interviewer at Cumhuriyet for many years. He had been writing a column since 1988. He served as the newspaper's İzmir representative for a period. He held the position of General Publication Coordinator at Cumhuriyet newspaper from 1992 to 2000.
He has 36 published books. He was married and a father of three daughters. He was a recipient of the 2014 Burhan Felek Press Service Award. He held a Permanent Press Card.
