High-level departure at Sözcü TV! 'It took me 5 minutes to make the decision'

While the departures at Sözcü newspaper continue to occupy the media agenda, another piece of resignation news has come from Sözcü TV.

Alişer Delek, who has served as General Manager at Sözcü TV since March 8, 2023, has parted ways with the channel.

Delek, who managed the technical and administrative process during the establishment phase of Sözcü TV, which began broadcasting on March 1, 2023, was appointed as General Manager following the departure of the first Editor-in-Chief, Yılmaz Özdil.

DID HE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE COMPANY OWNER?

According to Medyaradar, it was rumored behind the scenes that Alişer Delek had experienced issues with company owner Burak Akbay and had left WhatsApp groups some time ago for this reason.

Alişer Delek announced that he had parted ways with the channel in the following message sent to his colleagues:

"It took me 5 minutes to make the decision, but I hadn't anticipated that a farewell message would be this difficult. :) It was hard for me to look you in the eye and speak…

I remembered the days when I carried computers in a wheelbarrow and installed studio walls. And, of course, our success with all of you, which is unprecedented in media history. Take good care of yourselves first, and then of Sözcü. This is the cleanest institution in the sector that you will ever see.

But I am tired :) It is time for me to rest, develop new projects, and set sail for new successes. Stay well…"

HE ALSO ANNOUNCED IT ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Delek also announced the news of his departure on his own social media account. Delek stated, "I have left the Sözcü Media Group of my own volition. It was certainly not easy to leave Sözcü, Turkey's cleanest media outlet. But it is time for me to rest, develop new projects, and set sail for new successes."

WHO IS ALİŞER DELEK?

Born in Diyarbakır in 1980, Alişer Delek began his journalism career in 2000 in the foreign news department. He worked successively at Star TV, CNN TÜRK, TRT, Al Jazeera Türk, again at CNN Türk, and Haber Global. Having worked as a reporter, editor, and news manager in news centers, Alişer Delek served for one year in Athens and one year in Tehran for TRT.

Later, he returned to Turkey and took part in the establishment phase of Al Jazeera Türk. There, he served first as an editor and then as a news manager. After leaving there, he worked as a planning editor at CNN Türk and reached an agreement with Haber Global in September 2018.

Delek, who held the positions of News Broadcast Director and Deputy Editor-in-Chief, parted ways with the channel in March 2020.

Alişer Delek, who began working at the Sözcü Group in September 2020, had been serving as the General Manager of Sözcü TV since March 8, 2023.
