Lawyer daughter's social media post costs AKP-affiliated journalist dearly

On the night Galatasaray defeated Antalyaspor 4-2 at Rams Park to claim their 26th Süper Lig championship, a social media post by Begüm Ece Pazarcı, the lawyer daughter of journalist Emin Pazarcı, shifted the agenda. Begüm Ece Pazarcı shared a video of herself traveling in a luxury vehicle belonging to a friend. When it was noticed that a siren system was being used in the vehicle, a massive backlash erupted on social media.
FINE FOR ILLEGAL SIREN USE
Following an investigation by law enforcement, it was determined that the sirens were used without authorization. The vehicle owner was issued an administrative fine of 173,392 Turkish Lira, and the luxury car was banned from traffic for one month. It drew attention that a single post could have such a high cost for both the driver and those associated with the vehicle.
PROFANE RESPONSE TO CRITICISM LEADS TO SUSPENSION
As criticism regarding his daughter Begüm Ece Pazarcı grew rapidly on social media, AKP-affiliated journalist Emin Pazarcı responded to the reactions on his social media account with extremely harsh and profane language. This attitude was not well-received by his employer, Akşam newspaper. Former MP Şamil Tayyar announced on his social media account that Pazarcı had been placed on mandatory leave for three months due to the posts in question.
Tayyar's statement included the following remarks:
"A child's irresponsible action burned both the father and the friend.
Following lawyer Begüm Ece Pazarcı's video post from her friend's luxury vehicle equipped with a siren, the vehicle owner was fined 173,392 Turkish Lira, and the vehicle was banned from traffic for 1 month.
Father Emin Pazarcı, angered by the reactions on social media, was placed on mandatory leave for 3 months at Akşam newspaper, where he works, following his uncontrolled and unacceptable profane posts.
When I spoke with him, he told me that he had spoken very harshly to his daughter because of her irresponsible behavior.
Indeed, in his own social media post, he had stated that he did not accept this mistake.
