Marmaray is now free for journalists
Preparations have begun to provide journalists in Istanbul with free travel on Marmaray and metro lines operated by the Ministry of Transport.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has addressed the issue faced by journalists who, despite having free travel rights on local public transport in Istanbul, were unable to utilize these rights on Marmaray and metro lines under the ministry's control. Highlighting the financial burden and difficulties in work processes for journalists, Uraloğlu announced that a change would be made in this regard.
According to Minister Uraloğlu's statement, it was noted that efforts to enable journalists to use Marmaray and the relevant metro lines for free have gained momentum. It was stated that action was taken after Sinan Burhan, President of the Press Federation of Turkey, raised the issue on the program titled "Anadolu Soruyor".
Following this development, Uraloğlu said that positive progress had been made in discussions with Communications Director Burhanettin Duran. While emphasizing that he felt "embarrassed" regarding this situation concerning journalists, Uraloğlu announced that steps would be taken to implement the regulation in a short time.
With the implementation of this practice, the goal is to provide transportation convenience and reduce the financial burden for media workers actively working in the field.
