Nihat Genç has passed away

Journalist and author Nihat Genç, who had been receiving treatment for cancer for some time, was admitted to intensive care in recent days. Genç, who was most recently reported to have been intubated, has passed away.

Erdem Atay, Genç's colleague at Veryansın TV, shared the final words of the 69-year-old. In a post on the social media platform X, Atay stated, "The great warrior, true intellectual, and author Nihat Genç, who dedicated his life to the homeland and the republic, has passed away. May the Turkish nation have our condolences. His final words were, 'Keep the Republic alive.'"
