TGC Ankara Representative journalist Taylan Erten has passed away
The funeral of Taylan Erten, recipient of the 2018 Burhan Felek Press Service Award, will be held in Ankara on Tuesday, August 18.

Journalist and author Taylan Erten, the Ankara Representative of the Journalists Association of Turkey (TGC), has passed away. Erten was deemed worthy of the Burhan Felek Press Service Award in 2018.
Erten's funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, following the afternoon prayer at the Karşıyaka Cemetery Mosque in Ankara, and he will be laid to rest at the Karşıyaka Cemetery.
In a message published following Erten's passing, the Board of Directors of the Journalists Association of Turkey stated, "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our Ankara Representative, Taylan Erten. We will never forget our colleague who served our profession and the Journalists Association of Turkey successfully for many years as a journalist and author. We extend our condolences and patience to his family and our press community."
WHO IS TAYLAN ERTEN?
Born in Konya in 1942, Taylan Erten was educated at the Istanbul Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences. He began his journalism career in 1962 at the PTT NATO Department.
Having served as the Press and Public Relations Manager for the Ankara Municipality, Erten also worked as a press consultant for the Ministries of Local Government and Trade. Starting his work at Yenigün Newspaper in 1968, Erten held positions at the Politika, Aydınlık, Yeni Asır, and Sabah newspapers. He served as the Ankara Regional Coordinator for Dünya Newspaper.
Erten, who was among the founding members of the Economy Correspondents Association, was a member of the Journalists Association in Ankara and the National Policy Research Foundation. Erten was married and a father of one.
