Subsequently, it was learned that 14 people, including the news coordinator, news manager, reporters, and on-air personalities, were laid off.
According to a report by Medyaradar, the reason behind these departures and layoffs at Sözcü TV is the appointment of Yılmaz Özdil as the President of the Sözcü Media Group, which includes the Sözcü and Korkusuz newspapers as well as Sözcü TV.
With Özdil's appointment, two more high-level appointments were made within the institution. Sözcü newspaper columnist Güney Öztürk was appointed as the General Manager of Sözcü TV, while Sözcü TV Programs Coordinator and on-air personality İpek Özbey was appointed as the channel's new Editor-in-Chief.
