Ali Tezel: Anyone with even 1 day of insured employment will not be able to benefit from the bonus

Anyone who has even 1 day of insured employment between October 1 and October 31 will not be able to benefit from the bonus. Those who quit their jobs and then re-enter the workforce for the bonus will have to return the 5,000 lira with interest. The Social Security Institution will closely monitor job exits and entries made for the bonus. Retirees who are retired from the SSK, Bağ-Kur, and Emekli Sandığı but are engaged in Bağ-Kur-covered activities will also not be able to receive the bonus. Retirees have been expecting an additional raise since the raise in July. So, what will retirees who are waiting for a raise and are forced to work do? Social Security Expert Ali Tezel answered our questions.

What do you think about the fact that retirees who are forced to work will not be given a bonus? Will this approach push working retirees into informal employment?

While the system constantly punishes those who try to fulfill their duties as citizens, it rewards those who have found the shortcuts of the system and adopted all kinds of informal ways. While those who pay their taxes properly are punished, those who do not are rewarded with the amnesties offered. While those who pay their electricity and water bills on time at the cost of going hungry are punished, those who use them illegally or do not pay their debts are rewarded with the amnesties that are issued. What is it if not telling the working retiree who pays their premiums properly in the system 'you are punished' that they will not be given a bonus? In the economic conditions we are in, if a person is not working after retiring, either their economic conditions are very good or they are working outside the system. There can be no other situation. As a social state, you force the citizen to make a living by giving them a 7,500 TL monthly salary, and then you punish the working retiree by saying, 'What do you need a bonus for if you are working?'..

Discrimination in every sense deepens the gap between the two ends in the system. But while the group that can take precautions against this remains the strong side, the segment trapped in the gears of the system will always be the weak segment.

What needs to be done is to ensure that the bonus in question is given in full, not in proportion, to all retirees, especially those receiving the base salary, as well as all beneficiaries receiving widow's and orphan's pensions, regardless of whether they work or not.

-Retirees whose premiums are paid at the minimum level and those whose premiums are paid at a high level receive the same salary. Will the Ministry resolve this? How do you think this should be solved?

The system being attempted to be established is not based on raising the lowest retirement pension, but on pulling the high pension almost to the minimum pension. Thus, a welfare economy system whose conditions they will determine themselves is being put into effect... This is why the root pension was reduced to ridiculous figures by lowering the monthly accrual rates. Do the authorities not know this? Of course they do... If they were linking the pensions based on the coefficient they should be, there would be no need for a welfare economy system in this case. In short, if they taught us 'how to fish' instead of 'giving us a fish' when needed, no one would worry about the provided aid being cut off because they would not be in a position to determine the conditions. Which one do you think will provide an advantage for the government?

-What do you recommend for those who will retire in the coming period so that they can receive higher salaries?

Unfortunately, I am of the opinion that the conditions we are in are not very suitable for making future plans. Or rather, we are going through a period where our personal plans do not work. The important thing is what the government's plans for the future are regarding us. Even one step further, what line will the world economy be on? We need to evaluate this first.
