Striking details continue to emerge in the case of Seçil Erzan, a former bank branch manager who faces up to 226 years in prison for allegedly defrauding 18 people from the worlds of sports and business with the promise of high returns. In a post on his social media account, Prof. Dr. Bahadır Erdem described those who participated in the fund as "a typical example of vulgarity."
Legal scholar Prof. Dr. Bahadır Erdem, who recently resigned from the IYI Party, commented on the corruption scandal known as the 'Fatih Terim Fund' on his social media account. Describing the events as "a typical example of the greed and vulgarity created by the AKP era," Erdem wrote the following:
"The Fatih Terim fund is actually such a miserable reality of the era we live in. It shows how those who supposedly appear the wealthiest and smartest were fleeced like fools when they set their sights on more than what they were entitled to. It is a typical example of the greed and vulgarity created by the AKP era. Everyone in the country is a fool, except for these 'big brothers' who hand over millions of dollars in cash to a single female banker and receive a two-line note in return, thinking they are the smart ones. Banks won't give a penny of interest on dollar deposits, but these guys (who are on the fringes and slopes of the ruling power) expect to get 50-60% returns on their millions in 2-3 months. No one asks why! No one asks what makes me different!
Because they see themselves as very smart and as if they have fallen from the left side of the sultan. But then a female fraudster and those who use her emerge and show these people, who think they have fallen from the sultan's left side, just how dim-witted they actually are. But perhaps they are still pouting and hoping for help from the 'Reis' (the President). You never know, maybe their money will be paid back somehow. While retirees and civil servants are groaning and living below the hunger threshold, a single order could suddenly be issued and their millions of dollars found and returned. Aren't the Polats and their likes, and those who use them, actually the even lower level or the pit of baseness of all this!"
