DEVA Party to Altınok: 'While stating what we will do, we will not forget what we have done; we will speak the truth'

DEVA Party Deputy Chairman and Tekirdağ MP Cem Avşar criticized Ankara Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Turgut Altınok over his remarks. Avşar said, "The Mayor, who terminated the employment of hundreds of workers with flimsy excuses as soon as he was elected Mayor of Keçiören, now says, 'We will not play with anyone's livelihood, we will raise salaries.' Now, how are we to believe this? How are we to trust this? It is up to our nation to decide."

Stating that "it is known to the entire country that municipalities have turned into institutions for finding jobs and nepotism," the DEVA Party's Avşar said, "We see this situation in the practices of the Keçiören Mayor of the time as well. As soon as he was elected, despite them being from his own municipality, the Mayor constantly subjected employees to intimidation and mobbing with flimsy excuses, and the employment of hundreds of workers was terminated. Workers subjected to mobbing gave statements to various media outlets and made the following declarations: 'I started working during Mustafa Ak's term; after Mayor Turgut arrived, reports were filed against us with claims such as 'water is being wasted,' and our employment was terminated. We do not forgive him.'"

Another worker stated, "Even though I was working within the Directorate of Education and Culture and providing technical services, I was forced to work as a street sweeper in the Cleaning Affairs Directorate, and in this way, we were dismissed in groups of 20, 30, or 50 people."

Avşar said, "When the track record is this extensive, the fact that his first promise is, 'We will not play with anyone's livelihood, we will raise salaries,' reveals the gravity of the situation. Now, how are we to believe this? How are we to trust this? It is up to our nation to decide."
